Sustainability

Responsibility for today and tomorrow

Sustainability is embedded in our philosophy. As part of Meili Selection Hotels, we are committed to environmentally conscious hospitality and focus on responsible action, regional ties and long‑term responsibility.

Hotel Piz Buin is part of Meili Selection Hotels. Seven carefully chosen Swiss hotels, each inviting discovery with attention to detail, central locations and their own history. Sustainability matters to us and we stand by our commitment, which we have set out in our Sustainability charter .As a Swiss family business in its second generation, we act consciously and sustainably, emphasise regional ties and take long‑term responsibility – for our hotels, our employees and for future generations.

Resources

We love the mountains – and we want to protect them. That is why we focus on a conscious approach to resources and a sustainable operation guided by the three recognised principles of sufficiency, efficiency and consistency. In this way we assume responsibility for the environment, for future generations and for the enjoyment of our guests.

Food waste is recycled into biogas and biodiesel.

Two charging stations for electric cars are available to our guests to promote sustainable mobility.

Heat recovery from our ventilation systems makes useful use of waste heat, for example to heat the underground car park.

Towels are only changed at guests' request. This reduces water and energy consumption.

We use durable materials to avoid wasting resources.

Efficient processes and energy‑optimised appliances minimise resource usage.

Lighting is continuously updated to the latest, most energy‑efficient technology.

Ongoing monitoring and optimisation of energy consumption.

Support

We love our region – its traditions, its culture and its people. That is why we actively work to keep cultural heritage alive and to promote emerging projects. We therefore help ensure that Klosters remains vibrant – for visitors, locals and the next generation. Initiatives in sport and culture are particularly close to our hearts. We support, among others:

Klosters Music Festival

Stiftung Kunst und Musik

Curling Club Klosters

Skischule Klosters

Nostalgische Genussmeile Klosters

Tennis Association Zurich & Junior Tennis U18

Responsibility

We take responsibility – for our employees, our guests and society. Diversity, respect and a culture of appreciation are a given for us. This creates a workplace and a hotel in which everyone feels comfortable.

Fair working conditions are important to us and our employees benefit directly from the hotel's success.

We maintain an open, friendly and supportive working atmosphere.

Through training and further education we promote the personal and professional development of our team.

We foster an open feedback culture in which guests and employees can and should give feedback. We listen and learn from it.

We use durable materials to avoid wasting resources.

A fully accessible hotel room ensures that all guests feel at home.

We are LGBTQ+ friendly and welcome everyone as they are.

Local sourcing

Local sourcing is important to us. Short transport routes protect nature, increase awareness of local products and support the economy and jobs in our region. We rely on long‑term partnerships with producers and suppliers who care about quality and sustainability just as much as we do.
