David in Klosters – A cultural highlight in the summer of 2026

From July until the end of October 2026 guests in Klosters can expect an extraordinary art project: for the first time in Switzerland a monumental marble copy of Michelangelo's world-famous sculpture David will be presented.

The over 5-metre-tall and more than 5-tonne sculpture is made from original Statuario marble from Carrara — the same material and even the same quarry from which Michelangelo once obtained the marble for his masterpiece. The project was initiated by Klosters artist Christian Bolt, who places the Renaissance icon in a new alpine context.

The event is open to the public and marks the official start of the Scultura Viva art project. Visitors have the rare opportunity to witness the installation of this monumental work of art live.

Art tour with Christian Bolt

Those who wish to delve deeper into the history and significance of the project can take part in a guided art tour.

When: Every Tuesday from 14 July to 15 September 2026, from 14:00 to 16:00
Where: Meeting point: Arena Klosters, entrance

Together with the internationally renowned Klosters artist Christian Bolt you will discover the David sculpture, other artworks in Klosters hotels, and his studio. The tour combines art history, regional culture and the impressive mountain scenery of Klosters. It concludes with a convivial aperitif.
